Destination Family Photography in Hawaii
March 27, 2017 | Family
After a very long winter in Calgary, Alberta we decided to become destination family photographers and take our family somewhere hot to escape the cold for a little while. Sean was presenting to a group of destination wedding photographers at the HI on LIFE Wedding Photography Conference at the Hilton Village hotel in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii so we thought why not meet up after the conference. The conference was an amazing place to meet wedding photographers from all over North America including local Hawaii wedding photographers and Maui wedding photographers. We ended up choosing the small town of Kihei, Maui for our low key family vacation.
After checking in, we hit the kamole beach which was right across the street from our condo. Our boys, Rylan (4.5 years old) and Everett (1.5 years old) were immediately drawn to the ocean. The turquoise blue water and the fine golden brown sand kept them entertained for hours. Then once they had enough of Maui’s beautiful beaches for the day, we would head to the Condo pool to cool down. Rylan became an expert at making new friends. He would do it so effortlessly. In addition to hanging out at the beach and pool, we made a conscious effort to get out and explore the beautiful island of Maui. Lahaina, located about 30 minutes north of Kihei, became a favorite destination.
Rylan and Everett absolutely loved our trip to the Maui Aquarium spending hours looking at all the beautiful colorful fish. Finally, we ended our trip with a traditional luau at the famous Grand Wileia hotel. It was an incredible experience. Rylan was amazed by the traditional dancers and of course, the fire throwers. As destination family photographers, it was so much fun to document the laughs, the excitement, the adventure, the tears and everything in between.
